Toned paper studies

More drawings done in my new tone sketch book. While I may not enjoy the quality of the paper itself, the book has still be an amazing find and I don't regret buying it one bit. The real trick is finding colored pencils that work well with the papers texture and don't just smear lines in since precision can be very important with those key highlights....

Sketch Night at PVS Gallery

I recently discovered the perfect place to workout some artistic frustration within the NJ border, and the best part is that it is CHEAP! PVS Gallery in Hoboken holds weekly sketch nights for only $10 from 7 - 10 PM. The greatest part is that by that time of night, parking (which is normally a nightmare in this mini-city) clears up as people find their way home from work. The first attempt at visiting was a breeze since I got a spot right across the street and stayed the full 3 hours without any issues. And for the alcoholics out there, it is BYOB so you are free to relax as you sketch away.

Portrait progress
